Yoga In The Park
Come
salute the sun each Sunday morning with a salutation in the
park. Yoga is the practice of reconnecting with the earth,
sthira sukham asanam: the connection to the earth
should be steady and joyful. What better place to find
that connection than amongst the trees, birds and greens of
Old Montreal?
Meet us at the Yoga studio before 10:55 or in the park. Classes should be prepurchased at Luna Yoga. In the case of rain, classes will be held inside at Luna Yoga. Don’t forget to bring a yoga mat or towel!

Fundamentals
of Adjustments Workshop
With
Jennifer Maagendans
After multiple requests from students and teachers alike,
Centre Luna Yoga owner and Jivamukti-certified instructor
Jennifer Maagendans will offer training and insight into the
art of adjustments. With a decade of teaching experience to
draw from, those in attendance will learn how to incorporate
confidence and certainty into their adjusting by drawing on
their own practice and experience.

Jivamukti Yoga, Pranayama
and Meditation
with
Dechen Thurman
This class applies the five koshas (bodies) directly to the
asana practice. All masters agree that correct breathing is
fundamental to adventurous engaging and sustainable practice.
Students in this course will learn how to improve their postures
through assessment of the cycle of breath. Not only will the
physical posture improve rapidly under this examination, the
mental and emotional obstacle responsible for the apparent
physical limitation will be revealed. Whether you are a beginner
or advanced practitioner of asana, your practice will never
be the same. Patanjali describes aspects of yoga that remove
the effects of past karma. This approach to asana directly
addresses this issue and makes it accessible to the modern
yogini. The meditation portion of class introduces a method
of breathing not found in any yoga book.
Dechen Thurman is an accomplished actor,
yogi, professional Ohashiatsu® healer, and teacher of
Buddhism and Yoga. He has traveled often to India and Tibet,
has studied at New York University’s Tisch School and
at Columbia University, and currently teaches at Jivamukti
Yoga Center in New York City. Jivamukti Yoga, which Dechen
first discovered at the age of 19, is an enlightenment system
that draws deeply from past wisdom, is planted firmly in the
needs of today’s yogis and yoginis, and predicts a bright
future eventually unfolding through nonviolent motivation,
positive vibrations, ecstatic gyrations, scriptural resuscitation's,
and meditative contemplations.

Guru Yoga : It's Not What
You Think It Is
with
Matthew (Satyavira) Lombardo
This
class focuses on our relationship with the Guru, what that
means , who can it be, and how does it fit in to our "regular"
life.
This class will feature a dharma talk on how to take a teacher
properly,
a vigorous vinyasa krama practice, and a formal Tibetan Buddhist
Meditation that will set fire to your practice.
Since 2003, Matthew has taught yoga philosophy, asana,
and Buddhism in and around New York and the United States.
His classes are physically challenging, mentally stimulating
and spiritually effervescent.

consisting of flowing vinyasa sequences, hands-on adjustments
and breath awareness, set to a funky soundtrack infusing the
body, mind and soul.

"Yoga
Flo for Peace" DVD
with Jennifer Maagendans from Centre Luna Yoga
Yoga Flo for Peace is an instructional yoga DVD for the advanced
beginner to intermediate practitioner. It offers 3 time sequences
to choose from, and two language options (English or French).
A Yoga DVD created to promote peace and ecological awareness.
Packaging was made with 100% recycled cardboard, 100% recycled
plastic and all vegetable inks. One dollar of each DVD sold
is donated to Équiterre(a
organization promoting environmentally and socially responsible
choices).
Challenging and invigorating, Yoga Flo for Peace stimulates
the senses and inspires one to seek peace in each moment.
This practice awakens the dormant energy within, while calming
the mind and bringing about a strong sense of awareness. A
flowing practice led by studio owner and Jivamukti certified
yoga teacher Jennifer Maagendans, with original music composed
by Montreal's own Jason Kent.
Practising yoga since 1996, Jennifer has a background in gymnastics
and a degree in Environmental Studies. As a yoga teacher,
her classes challenge both body and mind. Her teaching emphasises
inner peace and happiness, as well as a strong connection
to the earth. Jennifer currently teaches at her studio Centre
Luna Yoga in Old Montreal.
