BE A
YOGI, BE ON TIME
Ashtanga
Ashtanga is a style of yoga which emphasizes strength and
endurance. A dynamic and vigorous style ensuring a strong
body and mind. This class focuses on the primary series.
Hatha
A gentle approach to traditional postures of balance, flexibility,
and strength. Emphasis on alignment and breath. Postures taught
as a soft flow series.
Jivamukti Basic
Good for beginners as well as experienced yogis wishing to
deepen their understanding of the postures. Focus on breath
and alignment. Taught in a four week cycle starting the first
Monday of every month: week 1) standing poses 2) forward bends
3) back bends 4) flowing and inversions.
Jivamukti Open
A challenging yoga practice welcoming all levels. Open class
consists of flowing vinyasa sequences, hands-on adjustments,
breath awareness, meditation, chanting, music, and relaxation.
Basic experience recommended.
Karma Yoga Classes
Yoga and Meditation. Focuses on harmonizing and raising energy,
balancing yin and yang, opening chakras and creating a solid
foundation in the practice of postures and meditation.
Suggested minimum donation is $5. Members may also use their
class pass to attend.
Thai Yoga Massage
The practitioner guides the recipient through a series of
postures while palming and thumbing along the body's energy
lines and pressure points. (By appointment)
While practicing
Yoga...
Here are some suggestions and cautions to keep in mind while
practicing Yoga. Please note that all bodies are different,
some cautions may, or may not apply to you. For more information
feel free to ask us. And most importantly, remember to listen
to your body at all times.
The studio is open 30 minutes before scheduled classes.
It is lightly cooled in the summer and warmed in the winter.
- Arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes before class start
- All classes are done in bare feet
- All cell phones and pagers should be turned off before
entering the reception
- Students are encouraged to bring their own mats, towels,
straps, pillows, etc
- During class, students are asked to keep 'talking' to
a minimum
- All injuries should be brought to the teachers attention
before the class
- It is best not to eat at least two hours before practicing
yoga, a light snack is recommended one hour in advance (i.e.
fruit or fruit juice)
- Smokers should refrain from smoking before class, especially
when practicing breathing techniques (for themselves and
others around them)
- Persons with high blood pressure should not stay in inverted
poses for long periods of time
- Perfume should not be worn during class, especially when
practicing breathing techniques
- Pregnant women should not practice twists or any abdominal
tightening poses. Advise teacher before class start
- It is not recommended to practice inversions (i.e. shoulderstand,
headstand) while menstruating. Listen to your body to see
what feels right
- All students are welcome to use any of the yoga props
(blocks, straps, etc.) to aid with comfort and alignment.
Students are asked to replace props neatly after use
Remember to listen to your body and enjoy yourself! Keep in
mind these classes are designed to help you relax and release
tension in both your body and mind. Enjoy each moment and have
fun!
